Dr. Sam Mensah
Dr. Sam Mensah is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of SEM Capital Advisors Limited. He is a financial economist and investment banking expert with experience in consulting, asset management and transaction advice on a range of financial transactions. He has consulted extensively for Ghanaian firms and international clients including the Ghana Stock Exchange, Newmont Ghana Gold Limited, USAID, the Commonwealth Secretariat, the World Bank, and the International Finance Corporation. Dr. Mensah has held positions in Corporate Finance with Aetna Insurance in Canada and was a Senior Economist at the Ministry of Finance of Canada. Before starting his consulting career, Dr. Mensah was an Assistant Professor of Finance at the University of Michigan.
Dr. Mensah has been at the forefront of financial sector development in Ghana and has advised on key initiatives such as the Financial Sector Strategic Plan and served as Technical Advisor to the Ministry of Finance in Ghana where he led the issue of five Eurobond transactions and the implementation of a new debt strategy. He holds an MBA and Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Toronto and an M.A. in Economics from the University of Ottawa. Dr. Mensah is also a Certified Management Accountant (Society of Management Accountants of Canada)
