Kofi Marrah

Kofi Marrah holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Ghana and a Master of Arts degree in Development Studies from the International Institute of Social Studies in the Netherlands. Soon after graduating from the University of Ghana, he wrote news commentaries for the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, followed by articles and book reviews for the now defunct West Africa newsmagazine. He also had articles published in African Agenda and Business in Africa newsmagazines. He worked for a year at the Public Agenda newspaper in Accra. His career outside the writing field was spent working with local NGOs, and an international development organisation. He spent the next few years in the public service, retiring in 2020.

An avid reader, he has always dreamed of authoring a work of fiction, a project that he embarked on while still in active employment. A Desperate Season is the culmination of his efforts towards this end. He has also written a collection of poems he hopes to publish in the near future.

Kofi Marrah is the father of three grown-up children and lives in Accra.
